Background InformationThe Family Matters Institute (FMI) has been in existence since 1998, moving from an initiative of Rev Dr Clifford Hill to a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. The charity's registered office is situated at Moggerhanger Park in Bedfordshire, a Grade 1 listed former home of the Thornton family, cousins of William Wilberforce. FMI's activities include:
These activities span faith, voluntary, community, statutory and corporate sectors, and operate at local, regional and national levels. The foundation of the FMI's work is a focus on the family, areas of greatest need and pain often stemming from family breakdown. Research continues to consider what is happening to the family in today's culture, its affect on children and young people and from a Christian perspective what can be done to support, improve and sustain healthy families. Projects have developed within parenting, fatherhood, family finances, workforce development and marriage & couple relationships. Research undergirds project development, as work is planned when staff are sure that they have a Christian based insight into the work, empirical facts have been gathered to show there is a need for support to families &/or organisations and that there is little evidence of others working in that area. FMI has gained an excellent reputation for its community and research work, which we hope this site provides some insights into. Thank you for visiting us! |
