Current Research

High-quality, detailed and contemporary research provides a sturdy evidence base which underpins all of FMI’s work, providing innovative and forward-thinking recommendations to fill gaps and improve knowledge. Consistently following its research through to positive outcomes, FMI influences social policy through practical recommendations and embedding of best practice.

We are currently undertaking research in the following areas:

·        Family breakdown

·        Separated families

·        Fatherhood

·        Father figures

FMI has developed these central areas through its extensive knowledge of the children and families sector, including an insight into and understanding of social policy and the social care system. Regular collaboration and consultation with children and families themselves, as well as partners and competitor organisations within the sector, also informs and strengthens our research direction.
