Major Brown, a divorce Barrister, is concerned because "we live in a more dangerous world and in order to meet that danger we will need to develop a cohesive society ready for all emergencies. We now have what is in effect a pro-one parent policy and a fragile society. What we need is a cohesive society with high morale".
It considers Britain's society as fragile, citing divorce rates, the proportion of children born outside marriage, the number of children in one parent families, the rising number of ually transmitted diseases, the exhaustion of working women, the poor standard of child care, the widespread use of cannabis by the young, the increase in homelessness, the deterioration in education, and the rise of a ladette and yob culture.
What can be done? The author makes a number of proposals to this situation.
Rev Dr Clifford Hill, MA BD PhD in his review says:
We are delighted to publish this booklet. It is a valuable resource for all who are concerned about the welfare of children and the health of family life in Britain today.
It will be a useful tool for social workers, health visitors and all who work in the community.
Additionally it provides a wake-up call to the dysfunctional trends in society that threaten future stability and should be the concern of politicians and social planners.
