Level 3 Award & Certificate Mandatory Unit (Unit 300)

Families going Forward is an exciting new resource programme that aims to train and equip outreach workers in Children’s Centres to come alongside families to support, empower and enable them to achieve positive outcome for their children. The course:

  • Helps practitioners to work within a framework of practice that is in alignment with the National Occupational Standards for Work with Parents.
  • Allows practitioners to understand the key tasks and responsibilities of outreach work in greater depth, leading to more confidence and practical competency, whilst building on existing knowledge and skills.
  • Is an accreditation pathway towards gaining a valuable Level 3 qualification in Work with Parents.

What does the course cover?

The course covers:

  • The underlying principles of family support.
  • A framework for good practice including partnership working and strengths and evidence based approaches.
  • The nine tasks of the outreach practitioner in supporting and enabling family change and progress.

Who is suitable for this course?

This training is for practitioners who are engaged in support and change work with families over sustained period of time, while being based in or linked to children’s centres. It is open to practitioners who work in the statutory or voluntary sector whether employed or volunteers. It is particularly suitable for outreach practitioners who do not already hold a relevant Level 3 qualification or those who hold a Level 3 qualification or above in another occupational area that is not Work with Parents e.g. childcare.

Who is not suitable for this course?

Outreach workers from Children’s Centres who are engaged in signposting and information-giving without family involvement over a sustained period of time.
