What is the Work With Parents Award?

This qualification provides essential knowledge and skills required to work effectively with parents and support parents in their parenting support role, in a wide range of settings. The WWP qualification is for learners either in a paid or voluntary capacity, and comprises a practical course involving a portfolio of short essays, personal reflective reports, records and observations of practice. There is a requirement to run a parenting course to complete the portfolio and ideally this should be run concurrently with the training.

The units covered by the WWP Award in Hertfordshire are:

  • Unit 300: Build and maintain relationship in work with parents (6 credits)
  • Unit 304: Effective communication with parents (3 credits)
  • Unit 308: Work with groups of parents (3 credits)

The credits obtained by completing the WWP Level 3 Award can go towards the WWP Level 3 Certificate.

Course organisation

  • 10 full study days held fortnightly or weekly; each day is 9.30am to 4.30pm
  • 5 hours of home study between sessions
  • Additional optional day to support portfolio building
  • Delivered in cohorts of 15 learners
  • Facilitated by supportive trainers with extensive experience of working in partnership with parents and delivering evidence based parenting interventions
