How to apply

Work With Parents

The application process

  1. There will be five courses delivered between January 2010 and March 2011, with 15 places per course.
  2. Applications for each course will open 8 weeks prior to courses starting and close 4 weeks prior to course starting (except where otherwise stated below).
  3. All wishing to apply must complete the Application Form and Learner Initial Task. The Application Form can be completed on-line. The Initial Task must then be completed and submitted by email.
  4. Applications will be vetted against the selection criteria (see below) and the tutorial team will conduct interviews with all shortlisted applicants soon after receipt of both Application Form and Learner Initial Task.
  5. You and your manager must also sign and fax back the Learner Contract in order to complete your application.
  6. Final decisions regarding applications will not be made until after the closing date of the course, at which point you will be sent a confirmation email.

Selection criteria

  • Only two people from the same organisation will be accepted on each course
  • Max 10 people per organisation over all

Professionals are:

  • already working with parents either on 1-1 or in group based setting
  • intending to or already running a parenting course (priority will be given to anyone who has undertaken NAPP training in an Evidence Based Programme.)
  • volunteers or employed
  • willing to contribute to group learning
  • committed to working with parents for 12 months after completion of the qualification

Professionals have:

  • effective interpersonal skills
  • GCSE/ equivalent English and Maths Grade C or above
  • signed support from their service manager
