Level 4 Award - Units 400, 401, 402  (12 Credits)

Developed specifically for family intervention key workers who are operating with a family intervention model in a statutory capacity using sanctions and consequences. The qualification includes the 3 new units at Level 4:

  • Build and maintain relationships with parents
  • Understand and use persistent and proactive intervention methods when working with families with complex and multiple needs.
  • Work with families with complex and multiple needs to reduce and prevent anti-social behaviour and increase positive behaviour.

This 7 day course builds includes the following themes:

  • The National Occupational Standards for Work with Parents.
  • The family intervention key worker functional map.
  • Partnership working: strengths based and evidence based practice.
  • Working with diverse families in an inclusive and containing way.
  • Reflecting on how to identify family strengths, needs and concerns within a community context.
  • Understand the socio-economic and other factors that impact on family function.
  • Change and transition theory.
  • Understand how stressful and traumatic life events affect families.
  • Working with families in high emotional states.
  • Building on the knowledge needed and practical skills required to engage with families: contracting; assessing; creating goal based action plans; coaching; overcoming obstacles and challenges; using incentives and sanctions and effective completion and closure.
  • Effective signposting and working with a multi-agency team around the family.
  • Persistent and proactive methodologies that evidence based practice says are effective within an interventionist model of work with parents
  • Focus on encouraging pro-social family behaviour in home and community.
