The new ILM Level 5 Certificate in Leadership and Management Skills has been designed to give practising or aspiring middle managers a solid foundation for their formal development in this role. It builds on the leadership and management skills gained in the Award through a choice of additional units covering a variety of leadership and management topics. (Please note participants are not required to undertake the Award as a prerequisite and may join the Certificate directly).

From 'Developing the manager as a critical thinker' to 'Making professional presentations' the Certificate in Leadership and Management Skills can be tailored to meet the  varying needs of participants across all employment sectors.

Learners that have completed the ILM Level 4 Award in Management or the Level 5 Award in Leadership and Management Skills within the last 3 years with FMI can those credits towards the Certificate giving them 8 or 10 credits already towards the 21.

How is the course be assessed?

Assessment will primarily consist of a work-based project which will both seek to enhance the learners understanding of their own organisation, develop and practice interpersonal, communication, planning and research skills of a manager and a reflective review. Candidates may be expected to complete pre-course work 1 week before the start of the course, and will be supported to complete the qualification within 1 month of the course wherever possible.  Learners will be provided with tutorial support as part of the programme.
