Level 3 Award & Certificate Optional Units (Units 304 & 309)
Supporting Family Change and Transition is a Level 3 Award top up course. It is for practitioners working with parents and families who have already completed or are working towards Unit 300 Build and Maintain Relationships in Work with Parents, who wish to gain the full Level 3 Award in Work with Parents, accredited by City and Guilds. It is a two day training course that explores:
- The socio-economic factors that affect the way parents carry out their roles.
- Transitions theory.
- The key effects of trauma and stress on individuals and families.
- Understanding what families need during difficult and challenging times.
- Understanding how families overcome and recover from traumatic life events.
- Working with families in high emotion states.
- The importance of effective communication and active listening in supporting families through difficult times.
This course builds on work based evidence already gathered towards Unit 300, Build and Maintain Relationships in Work with Parents and allows candidates to cross-reference and add to their portfolios of evidence to complete a Level 3 Award in Work with Parents (12 credits) or build towards a Level 3 Certificate (30 credits) accredited by City and Guilds:
- Unit 304 Effective Communication with Parents (three credits).
- Unit 309 Provide Services that meet Parents’ needs (three credits).
